Meet our Community

We are a collaboration between industry and science. Our community includes fishermen, processors, buyers, scientists, university faculty, and non-governmental and governmental scientific partners.

OUR LONGSTANDING PARTNERS INCLUDE:

  • National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration
  • Pacific Fishery Management Council
  • Oregon State University Marine Research
  • IATTC
  • Western and Central Pacific Fisheries Commission

Since 1971 ARF has worked in close collaboration with NOAA Fisheries to provide sound science that informs highly migratory species fisheries management. ARF representatives serve on the Pacific Fishery Management Council, and on the U.S. delegations to the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council and the Inter-American Tropical Tuna Commission. Together with industry partners like the Western Fishboat Owners Association and University collaborators, Oregon State University, we navigate the complex challenges facing us to create a strong future for the Pacific Albacore Tuna industry.

Effective marine fisheries research is facilitated by strong collaborative partnerships with fishermen and industry. These individuals offer a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience which is essential to consider when developing and executing research.
— Dr. Kathleen O'Malley, Oregon State University
