We bring together scientists and fishing industry professionals with the common goal of keeping Pacific Albacore Tuna stocks healthy and sustainable.
Our research plays a leading role in the understanding of Pacific Albacore Tuna and sound management practices.
Albacore Tuna is a highly migratory species; it travels vast distances in its lifetime. Learn more about its incredible behaviors and habitat.
Tuna are pelagic species, spending their lives in the open ocean. Albacore Tuna is one of the smaller tuna species. The Pacific Albacore Tuna caught in the eastern Pacific ocean that is the target of the west coast of North America troll and poll fisheries average around 14 pounds. They are torpedo-shaped with a dark blue back and lighter blue-silver sides and belly. Albacore Tuna also have long, streamlined pectoral fins and can live up to 12 years.
Today, U.S wild-caught Pacific Albacore Tuna stocks are healthy and sustainable.
We want to keep it that way.
